There's three folk in this photo; four if you count the one in mum's tum!

Glasgow's Rottenrow Royal Glasgow Maternity Hospital, the arrival point for generations of wee Glaswegians, was perched in a precarious spot - at the very top of a steep hill, giving the road up the nickname of 'Induction Brae'. Climbing up from George Street was enough to bring on palpitations, let alone a baby.

This family group, mum, daughter, and granny, have stopped for a breather, setting up base camp right below the hospital sign.

Founded in 1834, by 2001 the hospital was showing its age, and maternity services moved to the nearby Royal Infirmary.

Since then, the site, purchased by Strathclyde University, has become home to Rottenrow Gardens, with the hospital's old portico, and a giant nappy-pin sculpture, by George Wyllie, marking its history.
