Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum means many things to many people - a place to take the kids on a rainy Sunday, a place to admire the city's unrivalled public art collection, or just a place to relax, unwind and collect your thoughts in beautiful surroundings.
Back in the 'Hungry Thirties', when times were hard, it also provided a warm refuge for many of the city's unemployed; a place to sit, chat, and rest during the long hunt for work. Many of these men also used this time to learn about art, giving them an imaginative and creative outlet from their workaday lives.
Mind you, I wouldn't want to linger too long on those big wooden benches; they can be a bit hard on the old backside!
