It's 1961, and we're looking north east across Townhead, the Cathedral, the Royal Infirmary, and the Monkland Canal to Royston. You can even see the old St Roch's Secondary School. And you can certainly understand why the M8's engineers decided to 'borrow' the level line of the canal to lay out their new motorway.
The skeletal frame you see, bottom left, is the first sighting of Strathclyde University's Andersonian Library.
With the coming of the motorway, and the Townhead Interchange, this area was about to change beyond all recognition.
