These 1950's Blackhill weans had their own watery playground, in the shape of the old Monkland Canal. This lock used to be at the foot of Duchray Street. Their mums would have a canary if they knew they were playing down there.
That's the old Riddrie School you can see, right.
Today, much of the course of the old canal lies buried beneath the M8.
