The Water Babies (Print 1935 Paddling pool at Kelvingrove)
For size information please see our Print Product Guide.
Right, grab your swimmers, and your bucket and spade, it's 1935 and we're off for a day at the children's paddling pool in Kelvingrove Park.
The pool, a favourite with local weans in the summer months, also provided a slippery sliding spot in winter. And, with sandpits to play in, and lots of grass to run, loll about, or picnic on, it was a popular meeting spot for local mums. Although, heaven help any kids who trod sandy feet into their mum's well-swept hallways!
By sundown each day, the pool was a veritable bowl of 'verruca soup'!
Sadly, now long gone, the paddling pool was later replaced by a children's playground.
