It's Easter Monday 1955, and it's all hands on deck at Victoria Park pond. The paddle boats were a star attraction for local kids, allowing let to let off steam while also getting a spot of exercise. And, believe me, you needed muscles, and hands like leather to get these boats up to 'ramming speed'.
After half an hour on the water, your arms would be aching, and your bum numb, cold and damp from sitting on the hard seats..
